Caring Mass 2020

On Wednesday the 22nd of July, our community gathered together for our annual Caring Mass and Awards at Christ the King parish in Owairaka. Representatives from the organisations and charities we support with grants joined us, as well as students from our Catholic schools, and friends and supporters. Our thanks to you all for joining us for this special occasion. Our congratulations also to everyone who received a Caring Award for showing outstanding commitment to caring for others in our diocese.

Your donation supported these organisations in 2020

Thanks to your care and support, 69 grants have been given to charities and agencies throughout greater Auckland to help families, people and communities in need. This need intensified with COVID-19. To respond quickly to this increase in support, the Caring Foundation brought forward the payment of grants by over two months. We wanted to better support our agencies during challenging and uncertain times. Thank you for making this happen. It’s because of you that we could help our families. Our grateful thanks also to the Tindall Foundation and the Holzer Family Trust for their financial assistance.

Check out the 69 organisations your gift supported this year.

You supported a food project in south Hokianga

A request for help for families experiencing hardship through COVID-19 from the parish priest of Okaihau, Fr Richard Cortes resulted in a community-led food project for families in south Hokianga. Thanks to a team of wonderful volunteers, and a grant from the Caring Foundation, over 60 food parcels were distributed to families in the Whirinaki Valley, Pakanae and Waiwhatawhata. Volunteers bagged and packed the food parcels and then distributed them to the families. We are so grateful to all the volunteers and parishioners who got this project off the ground. Another community project that you helped fund.

Catholic Caring Foundation grants for 2019

Over 60 social service agencies and charities throughout the greater Auckland area (from the Far-North to the south of Auckland), were given a grant from the Foundation to help them continue their vital work in the community.
We could not have done this without the generous support of our compassionate donors, The Tindall Foundation, Trusts, parishioners and parishes, Catholic schools and those who have remembered a gift in their Will. Your support has a positive impact on so many in our community.

Caring Mass and awards at Christ the King, Owairaka, July 24th, 2019 at 11.30am

Connected communities celebrating care and support throughout the Auckland diocese

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday, July 24th, 2019 for the Foundation’s Caring Mass which was celebrated by Bishop Patrick Dunn. We were joined by supporters, organisations who were given a grant in 2019, school students from Catholic primary and secondary schools, and our diocesan team.

Bishop Pat encouraged all by saying that sometimes we feel tired for caring for others but that we shouldn’t give up. He said in his homily, ” The message from the Bible is we can’t walk away. The core message in the Gospels are feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, support those who are in prison, help people in every need. That work lies in the very heart of the Gospel. We’ve got to keep on keeping on.”

Caring Awards were given to students and grant recipients who  ‘showed outstanding care and commitment to caring for others in their community’.
