Our patron
Bishop Patrick Dunn was educated at St Michael’s School in Remuera and then Sacred Heart College in Glen Innes.
Upon leaving school he studied at the University of Auckland followed by studying for the Priesthood at Holy Cross Seminary in Mosgiel. He was ordained in 1976.
Following his ordination, his pastoral work has included working with the Catholic Maori Mission and the parishes of Mangere East, Takapuna, Pakuranga and Northcote.
Bishop Dunn was appointed the 11th Bishop of Auckland on 29th March 1995. He is patron of the Catholic Caring Foundation.
Prior to his appointment, Bishop Dunn was personal assistant to the previous Bishop of Auckland, Bishop Denis Browne who established the Catholic Caring Foundation in 1988.
